LAST WEEK:

Markets:  A new record High for the S&P500.  

S&P roller coaster last week:  Up, Down, Up, Up a lot, and Holiday. 

Fed Balance Sheet:  $6.660 Trillion.  

Holiday:  US Markets were closed last Friday, in observance of the July 4th holiday.

ISM:  The Institute for Supply Management’s Manufacturing index rose from May’s 48.5 up to 49.0 in June.  ISM’s Services index rose from May’s 49.9 up to 50.8 in June.  A number above 50 indicates an economic expansion, while a number below 50 indicated an economic contraction.  

Jobless claims:  The weekly number came in at 233,000.  The four-week average came in at 242,000.

Jobs:  The consensus for June’s Jobs number was 110,000.  The actual number came in higher at 147,000.

National Debt:  $37.072 Trillion.  (It’s going up about $28-30 Billion/week.)

Trade Deficit:  May’s number came in at $71 Billion.  

Unemployment:  The U3 June Unemployment number dropped a tick from 4.2% down to 4.1%.

Focus of the week:  Coming off of the Holiday, it’s a quiet economic data week.

Calendar:   Fed Minutes (Wed); and jobless claims (Thu).
