LAST WEEK:  

Markets:  A new Weekly high for the S&P500.

S&P roller coaster last week:  Up, Down, Up, Up, Down a smidgen.  

Fed Balance Sheet:  $6.659 Trillion.  

Housing:  Starts went up +4.6% in June, but were down -0.5% Y/Y.  

Industrial production:  It rebounded from -0.2% in May, to +0.3% in June. 

Inflation:  Consumer Inflation (the CPI) rose from 2.4% (May), up to 2.7% (June) Y/Y.  Wholesale Inflation (the PPI) dropped from 2.6% (May), down to 2.3% (June) Y/Y. 

Jobless claims:  The weekly number came in at 221,000.  The four-week average came in at 230,000.

National Debt:  $37.130 Trillion.  (It’s going up about $28-30 Billion/week.)

Retail sales:  They easily beat the consensus of +0.1%, coming in at +0.6% in June.  Retail sales are up +3.9% Y/Y.

THIS WEEK:

Focus of the week:  How will the Tariffs and the Trade deals turn out?  The latest deadline of August 1st approaches.

Calendar:   Existing home sales (Wed); new home sales, jobless claims (Thu); and durable goods orders (Fri).

Earnings:  Some of the companies reporting this week are:  Alphabet, AT&T, Boston Scientific, Chipotle, Coca-Cola, Honeywell, IBM, Intel, Lockheed Martin, Philip Morris, Sherwin Williams, Tesla, Texas Instruments, TMobile, Union Pacific, and Verizon.
