Markets:  With the focus on new Tariff announcements, Markets paused last week.  

S&P roller coaster last week:  Down, Down a touch, Up, Up, and Down.

Fed Balance Sheet:  $6.662 Trillion.  

Fed Minutes:  In their June meeting (Minutes get released three weeks later), the FOMC Committee voted unanimously to not change their interest rate from 4.25%-4.50%.  It’s been there for 7 months now.  The focus now is… how many rate cuts could happen this year?  Though officials expressed different opinions, expectations are for two cuts sometime in the next five-six months.  

Jobless claims:  The weekly number came in at 227,000.  The four-week average came in at 236,000.

National Debt:  $37.101 Trillion.  (It’s going up about $28-30 Billion/week.)

THIS WEEK:

Focus of the week:  Inflation.   Consumer Inflation gets updated Tuesday morning.  The June CPI is expected to rise from +2.4%, up to 2.7% Y/Y.  Wholesale Inflation gets updated Wednesday morning.  The June PPI is expected to drop a tick from +2.6% down to 2.5% Y/Y.  

Calendar:   CPI (Tue); PPI, industrial production (Wed); retail sales, and jobless claims (Thu).

Earnings:  A new Earning Season gets underway this week.  Some of the companies reporting are:  Abbott Labs, Bank of America, BlackRock, Citigroup, GE Aerospace, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Netflix, Novartis, PepsiCo, Progressive, Taiwan Semi, and Wells Fargo.
