LAST WEEK:  

Markets:  It was a wonderful year in the Markets last year.   

S&P roller coaster last week:  Down a lot, Down, Holiday, Down, and Up significantly.  

Fed Balance Sheet:  $6.853 Trillion (last week… down -$13 Billion).  Reminder: their balance sheet was closer to $4 Trillion before the Pandemic.  

ISM:  The Institute for Supply Management’s Manufacturing index moved from a rating of 48.4 in November, up to 49.3 in December (beating expectations of a 48.5 rating).  

Jobless claims:  The weekly number came in at 211,000.  The four-week average came in at 223,000.

National Debt:  $36.316 Trillion.

Focus of the week:  Jobs & Unemployment.  Expectations are for 150,000 jobs, with the Unemployment rate staying at 4.2%.

Calendar:   ISM Services index (Tue); Fed Minutes, ADP employment report  (Wed); jobless claims (Thu); and the new Jobs and Unemployment numbers (Fri).
