Markets: What a difference a week makes. With a potential trade deal with China in the works, Markets take off.
S&P roller coaster last week: Up really significantly, Up, Up a touch, Up, and Up.
Fed Balance Sheet: $6.713 Trillion.
Housing: They went up +1.6% in April, but were down -1.7% Y/Y.
Industrial production: The April number was flat (0%).
Inflation: Consumer Inflation (the CPI) dropped a tick in April from 2.4% down to 2.3% Y/Y. Wholesale Inflation (the PPI) dropped in April from 2.7% down to 2.4% Y/Y.
Jobless claims: The weekly number came in at 229,000. The four-week average came in at 230,000.
National Debt: $36.869 Trillion. (It’s going up about $29 Billion/week.)
Retail sales: March was revised from +1.4% up to +1.7%. The April number came in +0.1% as expected. Retail sales are up +5.2% Y/Y.

Focus of the week: It’s a light week for economic data.
Calendar: Existing home sales, jobless claims (Thu), and new home sales (Fri).
Earnings: Some of the companies reporting this week: Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Home Depot, Intuit, Lowe’s, Medtronic, Southern Company, TJX, and UPS.
